Explaining Infill

One of the words you may not know, but have heard of floating around when shopping for your artificial grass lawn, is infill.  But what is infill?  Infill is the crumbled up rubber and sand particles that are placed between blades of grass to give them a more natural and realistic look.  Infill is also designed to make the lawn underneath one’s feet feel real as well as it emulates the soft sense of soil and grass.  But why get infill for a realistic feel when you have a fake lawn already?  Well that is also another good question.

When shopping around to buy synthetic turf you are looking to emulate the look of a real lawn while also cutting down on the maintenance of actually having one.  If the synthetic lawn you ordered is just for looks, or if it is a place to send your pet to use the restroom, then infill is generally not needed.  The same can be said if you plan to place this fake grass along a hill, around the edge of a patio, or for other generic, small, and only eye pleasing purposes.

On the other hand, homeowners who want to play on their residential artificial grass should opt for the infill.  Infill is not for looks it is for use.  Playing outside on a artificial lawn, exercising your animals, and if you have other high traffic areas on a synthetic lawn are all great reasons to have your synthetic lawn filled with infill.  It will provide a safe and soft realistic soil and grass feel that will last.

When looking at synthetic lawns you need to ask yourself whether you are getting it for play or aesthetic pleasure.  Be an informed consumer, and get infill if you really plan on using it.

Synthetic lawn turf has many environmental benefits, and eliminating the use of lawn mowers is one of them.

Although maintaining your natural grass lawn can be a relaxing and rewarding pastime, few people enjoy the hard labor of mowing their lawns.  Yet mowing is an important part of lawn care and has a major effect on the health and appearance of your lawn. So why is it so harmful to the environment? According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a typical 3.5 horsepower gas-powered lawn mower emits the same amount of air polluting emissions in one hour as a new car driven 340 miles. What’s more, more than 17 million gallons of gas and oil are spilled each year from refueling lawn equipment.

A synthetic lawn does not require mowing, which means preventing the air polluting emissions from harming our environment.  In fact, artificial grass does not require watering, weeding, herbicides or fertilizing. Learn more about the environmental benefits of fake grass or purchase artificial grass at wholesale prices today.

Despite the fact that synthetic grass is being used as a safe and durable surface for playing fields across the country, there is still a lot of confusion about the benefits of this modern technology. This is why many athletic directors have a difficult time introducing the idea to their school boards and other officials. More specifically, they don’t have the right tools to bring synthetic grass to their schools.

Some of the biggest obstacles to bringing artificial grass turf to a high school are raising money and getting community support.  If you’re finding yourself in the same category, you may want to check out the Athletic Director’s Guide. Developed by the Synthetic Turf Council, the Athletic Director’s Guide includes everything you will need to accomplish your goals. The guide provides a wide range of effective tools, including educational materials, fundraising ideas, and tips on gaining community support for synthetic turf fields.

And when you’re ready to begin installation, don’t forget to contact Artificial Turf Supply to purchase high-quality wholesale artificial turf.

Synthetic turf grass can be used to create everything from safe, barrier-free play zones to athletic playing fields. And there is always a story behind every installation, and sometimes even a heartwarming one.

The Synthetic Turf Council announced last week it is hosting its annual Search for the Real Field of Dreams Contest. Established to recognize the positive influence artificial grass has on the lives of youth and the general public, the 2011 Search is now accepting nominations from the United States and Canada.

“More than 6,000 synthetic turf fields are open across North America, along with numerous parks, playgrounds and public installations,” said Rick Doyle, President of the Synthetic Turf Council. “Our Search for the Real Field of Dreams Contest aims to show what can be accomplished when people are willing to dream big.”

According to the announcement, interested students, coaches, faculty, parents and others who know of an amazing wholesale artificial turf field, park, playground or installation in their community can nominate an installation. All submissions must be turned in by June 15, 2011. A cash prize will be given to the winner and national finalists.

Press coverage of Evergreens UK historic flower show firsts

Opening yesterday, the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show (24 – 28 May 2011) is arguably the ultimate event in the gardening calendar.

And as artificial grass featured at Chelsea in both 2009 and 2010, this year’s show could once more bring artificial grass to the attention of green-fingered experts and gardening enthusiasts.

Previously, Evergreens made flower show history by becoming the first retailer invited to show artificial grass at any RHS flower show – Hampton Court 2008 – and to win a Certificate of Merit for doing so.

In 2009, Evergreens repeated the feat by becoming the first very first retailer to display artificial grass at the Chelsea Flower Show.

And in 2010, artificial grass went on to feature in some of Chelsea’s show gardens – winning celebrity fans including Amanda Holden, Phil Spencer and Craig David.

Since being displayed at RHS events, including the Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows, artificial grass has been widely lauded as a modern garden design solution  ideal for gardeners looking for low maintenance and child-friendly lawns.

The RHS itself has even installed artificial grass in some of its high-profile garden attractions – including Kew Gardens and RHS Wisley’s Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon rose garden – since artificial grass’s 2009 Chelsea debut.

With the heat of the summer just around the corner, it is now a better time than ever to consider installing an artificial grass lawn.  That is because hot summer days can have a tremendously harmful effect on your lawn by drying it out and creating thick hard dead spots of grass all across your yard.

These dried up patches of dead grass create an uneven touch terrain which can lead to the potential for injuries.  It also is not that pleasing to the eyes to walk out to a lawn that is half alive and half dead thanks to the sun sucking up all your lawns valuable water.  Having a sprinkler system installed can help reduce these effects, but are not always 100 percent effective.  It can miss spots on your lawn and, even when the water does hit; it can still evaporate quicker than the grass has a chance to absorb it.

This is why it is a better idea to seek out artificial turf manufacturers and consider the option of having lush synthetic grass installed across your lawn.  We at Artificialturfsupply.com are already in contact with many different manufacturers and can help provide you with a custom solution to meet all of your synthetic lawn needs.

Artificial lawns are virtually maintenance free; after all, you don’t have to water, mow, weed or fertilize an artificial lawn. But if you want to help maximize the life span and beauty of your artificial lawn, there are a few things you can do. Although simple and quick, the following tips will ensure you get to enjoy a lush, beautiful artificial lawn for as long as possible.

Rake away dust and debris. Artificial grass does cost a lot upfront, so it’s important to maintain it the right way. Use a push broom, rake or blower to care for your artificial grass. Blow off or rake your grass once a month to enhance its look. You can also brush artificial grass against the grain every three months to get rid of debris and dust and stabilize the fibers.

Wash away spills. Use water to spray and clean up after any spills, especially if you have any pets. You can also use a mild detergent if you wish.

Individuals have seen fake grass as nothing more than that green stuff on the golf course or football field.  Those enlightened to look a little deeper have come across great ways in which they can have their artificial lawns customized to meet their specific needs.  However, they are still kept at bay due to animal safety and use with question circling around what will happen to their pets if they are found eating or defecating on their newly installed synthetic grass.

Not to worry though, because we at Artificialturfsupply.com have sought to supply our consumers with the PetPRO series of artificial grass.  We offer just as many customizable solutions for residential and commercial artificial grass, but our PetPRO series is specifically designed with your pets in mind.

Our PetPRO series is made with specially treated polyethylene designed to make pet stains virtually impossible.  Droppings are easy to pick up on this grass system while urine is allowed to drain through keeping your synthetic lawn looking new.  The material supplied in our PetPRO series is also extremely durable and difficult for dogs to dig through. The product is also infilled with non-toxic rubber, so in the unlikely event that your pet does swallow any, they will still be okay.

We provide all of our artificial grass for wholesale, and that includes our PetPRO series.  It is the perfect fit for any animal, and will keep your lawn always looking greener regardless of how your pets treat it.

Some avid gardeners and home keepers like the idea of maintaining the grass of a real lawn over fake lawn grass.  It can be rewarding to see the fruits of your labor turn out a magnificent lawn.  However, the flip side to this is seeing all of your hard work go to waste.  You can spend hours each day perfecting your lawn to only have an unpredicted hail storm pour down and kill your grass with its freezing temperatures.  This same weather can also ice over your lawn making it slippery and dangerous.  When that foul weather finally passes you are left with dead patches of grass dispersed throughout your lawn, and all your hard work wasted.

This is why it is more sensible to buy artificial turf.  Not only will you no longer have to worry about maintenance and cost of a real lawn, but you will also no longer have to worry about your lawn being killed by weather that is either too hot or cold.  This will allow you to spend time taking care of more important things around the house such as tending to a rose garden, painting and maintaining the outside of your house, or tending to your rock garden.  These household chores are much more important to maintain, and are the real products of one’s labor; while maintaining the lawn is more of a complimentary effort.

Artificial grass turf can maintain that complimentary effort for your house and garden.  Whether through sleight, sun, rain, snow, or even hail, our synthetic grass will always come out looking green, so there is no more need to worry about those nasty dead patches of grass.

Adding artificial grass to your rooftop garden can help you to enjoy and add value to your property

According to the Daily Mail, artificial grass and having a rooftop garden’s never been as cool – especially as thousands of city dwellers are now taking advantage of government grants to transform neglected rooftops into “living gardens”.

Even London’s mayor Boris Johnson has come out in support of rooftop gardens. In fact, Mr. Johnson told the Daily Mail that he’d like to see London’s skyline become all the greener – particularly as utilizing roof space can help to add value to a property, making happy home owners of London’s roof gardening set.

And while some city dwellers are grass-seeding their roofs or layering moss and thatch to create a little greenery, gardening pro’s have said that you don’t need to be particularly green fingered to create a living garden.

In fact, home owners could achieve an urban oasis with the minimum of fuss by installing low maintenance artificial grass to create a lovely garden that also features nature-friendly items such as bird baths and plant pots full of fragrant herbs, grasses and flowers to attracts, birds, bees and butterflies.

What’s more, rooftop gardens not only add valuable outdoor living space to a property, but gardening experts say they could add thousands to a property’s value, as well as act as natural soundproofing to help top-floor flats better drown out the sounds of planes overhead.

Artificial Turf has the potential to enhance parks and communities around the world, and Quebec, Canada is no exception. MontrealGazette.com reports that the new synthetic sports fields at Terra Cotta Park in Pointe-Claire, Montreal have been ready and in use for nearly a week now.

The $4.6 million project — paid for by Quebec and Ottawa – includes two new full-sized artificial grass lawn fields for soccer and rugby practices and exhibition matches. Along with advanced artificial turf, both multipurpose synthetic turf fields boast larger stands, team and referee benches, a scoreboard, and warm-up tracks.

One of the main advantages of using artificial turf is increased playing time for the soccer season. According to the article, the soccer season will be extended from earlier in the spring to later into the fall. The new fake lawn playing fields also reduce the wear and tear of the city’s natural grass fields. And with lower maintenance costs, the new turf is a smart investment.

Green and red bespoke event carpet used by Heineken Green and red bespoke event carpet used by Heineken

Heineken might serve its beer from iconic green bottles, but that’s not the only green the brewers get excited about – as the firm has recently used artificial grass carpet from Evergreens UK for an important industry event.

Heineken opted to promote its brand colours at a supermarket’s buyer conference in West London, using our red and green exhibition carpet and event flooring to represent the beer’s green bottles and trademark red star logo.

The distillers chose to have green and red event carpeting installed at a West London venue, with track-look flooring creating a firm stage area where speakers could stand while addressing event delegates.

The running track graphics were inlaid at our factory in Rutland with the final finishing on site to make for an efficient installation to meet the clients time frames.

The Evergreens team also laid a protective layer between the venue’s expensive wooden floor and our exhibition carpet, to ensure there was no damage caused by the installation or any heavy footfall at this prestigious event.

The installation makes Heineken the latest leading international brand to choose Evergreens UK for event flooring.

Evergreens have supplied event flooring for brands including Coca Cola, Vodafone, Adidas, Harrods, Nike and Rolls Royce.
