Artificial Grass for a new primary school.

Evergreens  UK was specified and selected  as a preferred  supplier and installer of synthetic grass for the new development at East Anton Primary School. Read on to find out about this project and see more fantastic images.

Evergreens UK worked in conjunction with the main contractor (Mansell) on behalf of Hampshire County Council, and a design company, RPS Group, to install Lazylawn’s new range of  Wonder Yarn to three main areas within the School  grounds to create  a low maintenance, highly useable year round artificial lawn. Each area had its own technical installation challenges due to the shape and contours (groundworks) required.

Outside this fantastic new school is a landscaped area including a number of copse habitat areas to encourage biodiversity and accommodate nature study zones for pupil use. A landscaped courtyard area will be used for outside learning, outside dining and community use out of school hours. “Once it’s finished, it’ll be state of the art – with craft areas, a music and drama studio, I.T suites, food technology rooms, two playgrounds and a sports field” – well… they weren’t wrong! – This grassy area is greener more so now than the park is used to be!

Area 1 was a 60 metre snaking river that runs between specialist paving and landscaped boarders.  This area required over 550 sqm’s of Synthetic Turf and was installed in 3 days including ground works.

Area 2 was an enclosed court yard that contained two raised and contoured beds, and a large circular grass seating area.  This area proved the most challenging as special care was ensured to make sure the grass followed the contours.  All Artificial Grass had to be carried out with pile directions running in the same direction and without visible seams.  This area was carried out by three of the companies most experienced fitters from head office.

Area 3 was to the front of the school –  it was a large impressive stepped amphitheatre design, that also totalled in excess of 500 sq mtrs. The school children are very lucky to have such amazing facilities – we don’t think too many pupils will be missing school with outside spaces such as this!

All three areas required a total of 35 tons of granite stone, 1300 sq mtrs of Wonder Yarn 36mm and 12 tons of kiln dry sand (infill).  The whole project was installed over a period of 14 days by 5 of the “lazy boys” from Evergreens LazyLawn Head Office.  Come to think of it… not so lazy?!
